Rushin' Bruisette

Rushin' Bruisette #58

How long have you been skating?

I was taught around 3-4yrs old. I keep at it til 15 and didn't pick it up again til I joined CCRD at 31

What are you looking for in a derby league?

A sisterhood I never truly had. Those ladies have started to crack my shell and get me out of my comfort zone. I'm building up others while being built up myself.

What is your personal derby goal for this season?

More confidence. Taking the panty pass and doing my best to get through that pack.

What do you like to do outside of derby?

I'm a mom of 2 daughters, so when I have the chance, I hit the gym, I try to get crafty with vinyl or paint, watch horror/suspense movies, or play with the Jeep in the woods.

What do you like most about derby?

The strangers I met that became family. CCRD is such a great mix of people. It's like skating with second mothers, fun aunts, crazy cousins, and a bunch of big and little sisters. Everyone has everyone's back on and off the track. They are an amazing bunch.

Do you have a favorite derby moment?

It's hard to say one moment is my favorite out of so many memories, but being that I have to choose, one that stands out was nailing my 27/5 right after I came back from breaking my leg.

Fav derby attire?

I was given a pair of blue shorts from a now retired CCRD skater. I don't wear them often, but I always channel my inner Rowdy when I do. Though there is something about putting on that bout day jersey...

Fav food?

Tacos. Forever tacos. Though, Thai is a close second.

What motto do you live by?

"These bumps in the road are not setbacks, they just let you jump a little higher." That was my dad's words on his battle with cancer in 2015.

How many hours have you spent in a tattoo chair/table?

Currently, I have 6 tattoos, so my time in a chair is somewhere between7-9 hrs. I have a few more I want to add, one being fairly large, so that number will defintely rise.
