New Skater Info

Thinking about joining roller derby? NO previous skating experience required! We strongly believe that ANYONE can learn to skate and play roller derby, as long as they have the ability to commit the time and energy needed to improve.

Step 1

Our next New Skater Night will be Thursday, April 11th!

Attend orientation (off skates) Thursday, April 11th*, at 7 p.m. at Tri-Town Park Activity Center in Troy, IL. We will give an overview of our organization, its history and culture, the sport, and how the next few weeks will work. We will also as fit you for rental gear** (as available). This should last about 45 minutes. Feel free to stick around, ask questions, or observe practice.

*Should you miss this date please contact us at ccrdinterleague@gmail.com or through our social media for information about dropping in for the next available session date from the list below. We dedicate every Sunday practice to helping newer skaters.

Come see whether being a member of Crush is for you! For $40*** we will teach you roller derby basics and help you understand the sport more.

All practices are held at Tri-Township Activity Center, Troy, IL.

***$40 covers your New Skater period. After that monthly dues will be applicable should you continue to skate with us!


Details!

- NO previous skating experience required!
- You do not need to have knowledge of roller derby
- You may be able to rent skates and/or protective gear for an additional $10 AS AVAILABLE, but they must be left at the rink and cannot be taken home.
- If you are joining as a potential referee, we do NOT require payment for you to attend.
- Proof of primary health insurance (please bring card or a photocopy with you)
- Driver’s License (please bring card or a photocopy with you)
- A signed waiver and release of liability upon entrance to the rink

Equipment required for practice

  • Completed necessary forms and waivers (will be provided digitally either prior to or at practice, accessible with smartphone)

  • Water bottle

  • Green shirt with first name on the back for new skaters

  • Attire suitable for exercise


    Different color shirts will become necessary as you advance in skill level
