Veronica Hardblow #426
Tell us about your derby name and number.
Veronica Hardblow stems from Veronica Varlow, a burlesquey musician/ performer. I have seen her several times in St. Louis with Emily Autumn (who plays an electric violin....whoa). Varlow was fierce, sassy, and elegant-traits I would like to possess. Hardblow (to hit hard) is a play off her name. Sorta lovely and devastatingly strong. My number 426 is the date of my wedding anniversary. My husband encouraged me to come try this derby thing out and he is my biggest fan.
Hobbies outside derby:
Playing with my daughter, singing, baking, and playing board games.
Long term roller derby goals:
My goals are to be a formidable player and to one day be someone new skaters look up to. Derby is a process, so for now I am working on falling down less.
Motto to live by:
"Sucking at something is the first step toward being sorta good at something"
-Jake the Dog
How long have you been skating?
I rollerbladed as a kid, but as far as quad skates and derby goes, I started in February 2016.
One thing most people do not know about me:
I enjoy engaging others in freestyle rap battles.
Least favorite derby drill:
It has changed as my skill level has increased, but juking is the worst. I am not good at being sneaky, graceful, and quick all at once....yet!
